It has been a few days since FSU football suffered another humiliating loss to the Florida Gators. The Early Signing Period starts on Wednesday, and FSU has yet to announce any changes to its staff or back office management.
It feels like the FSU administration either has no plan or they are working on something behind the scenes that will surprise everyone. The seemingly inability to make moves has everyone wondering what’s going on, and gives other programs the opportunity to kick the Noles while they’re down.
Nobody loves to do that more than former Florida Gator coach Steve Spurrier. The Florida Gators announced they fired Billy Napier a few weeks ago and finally made their new hire a few days ago. They hired another G5 coach, Jon Sumrall, after failing to land Lane Kiffin.
Spurrier was on hand to show his support for the new hire and took the opportunity to poke fun at FSU for how they are handling the Mike Norvell situation:

We can’t say that he’s wrong since FSU has refused to fire Mike Norvell. The guy has gone 7-17 over the past two seasons, with only four wins over Power Four teams. Frankly, it’s unbelievable he still has a job. We understand it’s a lot of money, but there is no way any good coaches or players will want to come to FSU with him as a dead man walking.
We wrote about why FSU couldn’t afford to bring Mike Norvell back a few weeks ago. Mike Norvell will not speak with the media tomorrow during the Early Signing Period tomorrow as usual. Here’s to hoping some miracle is happening behind the scenes, like him going back to Memphis to free FSU fans from the prison of mediocrity.
