Florida State Sports News: Norvell's last stand, FSU baseball, FSU soccer, and more

Florida State sports have been hot and heavy over the past few days. FSU football readies for Homecoming against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, in what could be the final stand in the Mike Norvell era.

The Noles have ballooned to a -10.5 betting favorite, which is surprising, considering how FSU has looked each week. However, we wrote about why FSU is the betting favorite over Wake Forest, although FSU hasn’t won an ACC contest in over a year.

We’re looking to see if FSU players play with effort and want to in this game. If they don’t and lose in a similar fashion to the Stanford game? There’s no way Mike Norvell is the coach in 2026.

FSU softball got into action earlier this week with wins over the rival Florida Gators and FAMU. FSU freshmen are already making their marks.  

FSU baseball has had some action over the past week with some fall ball against Mississippi State and UAB. They had their annual Garnet and Gold All-Star game on Friday night:

FSU has several new faces from the transfer portal and the JUCO ranks, but it looks like FSU could pick up from where they have left off the past two years.

FSU soccer won two games this week to earn a spot in the ACC Championships. They beat No. 2 Virginia 3-2 and blasted Wake Forest 4-1 to climb to No. 6 nationally. The will host their quarterfinals game on Sunday, November 2nd, at 8 p.m. ET. The game will air on the ACC Network.
