Florida State football fans have known the Noles needed to leave the ACC for a while now since the 2023 undefeated team got snubbed from the College Football Playoffs. The sad part is that the lack of respect has trickled down to other sports now.
FSU softball won the ACC regular season and ACC Tournament. They will host the Tallahassee Regional as expected, but they will have to travel to UCLA if they win the regional and UCLA wins theirs. The Bruins received the final national seed over Florida State, despite FSU beating UCLA 11-7 in their lone head-to-head matchup on a neutral field.
The NCAA Committee spokeswoman stated UCLA has better wins, but both teams went 7-8 against Quad 1 teams and perfect against the Quad 2, Quad 3, and Quad 4 teams. UCLA didn’t win the B1G Tournament, so how in the world could the head-to-head matchup not count for more?

FSU should have a great shot to make it back to Super Regionals.
It’s another prime example of the ACC getting no respect from the national media, and another reason Florida State needs to get out of the ACC as soon as possible.
Instead of hosting UCLA in Tallahassee, now the Noles will have to travel all the way across the country (unless UCLA doesn’t win its regional) to play the same team they beat. Florida State didn’t play well when it had to travel to California to face the Stanford Cardinals.
I’m not going to look ahead, but Florida State did receive a favorable matchup in its regional. If they face the Bruins in the Super Regionals, they have a monster offense, and the Noles will need to find the same offense they used to beat the Bruins earlier in the season.
Stetson, UCF, and Jacksonville State will also play in the Tallahassee Regional. FSU will face Stetson in its first game on May 15th at 11 a.m.
