Florida State fans should be in for another exciting weekend with the football team traveling to Miami, the volleyball team traveling to Pittsburgh, and the baseball team finally starting the Fall Ball season.
There will be plenty of action in store for fans this weekend, and it will all start tonight with the women's soccer team. The No. 24 Seminoles will be playing tonight against No. 4 Wake Forest in North Carolina for what should be a big match. Florida State lost a key match against UNC due to Hurricane Isaias, allowing the team to focus solely on the match against the Demon Deacons.
Florida State volleyball prepares for the toughest challenge of the season against No. 2 Pitt
The Seminoles' volleyball team is just a day away from playing in the biggest match on the schedule against the No. 2 Panthers in Pittsburgh. Florida State has won the last four matches in a row, and the team will now test the winning streak against a very strong opponent. The Panthers have won every home match against the Seminoles since 2014.
Florida State has looked stellar this season, with a ranked win over Kansas and a recent dominant stretch on the court. The Seminoles need all the confidence and momentum to take down a dominant team like Pitt, who have only dropped three sets in six conference matches this season.
After the match against the Panthers, Florida State will hit the road again to play No. 5 SMU in Dallas on October 18. The Mustangs have been an equally successful team, handing Pitt its only loss so far this year while also taking down No. 9 Texas and No. 3 Kentucky.
Brooke Wyckoff kicks off her fifth season as the head coach of the Seminoles' women's basketball team
The Florida State women's basketball team will begin the 2026-27 preseason on October 18 against Tampa in the Donald L. Tucker Center. The two teams have never officially met on the court before, but the exhibition should give the team and fifth-year coach Brooke Wyckoff a chance to work the rust off.
Wyckoff took over as the head coach of the program ahead of the 2022-23 season after serving as the interim coach during the 2020-21 season. After the retirement of Sue Semrau, Wyckoff became the head coach and has since delivered 80 wins and three NCAA Tournament appearances. The Seminoles tumbled during the 2025-26 season, however, winning just 10 games and snapping a long-standing tournament streak.
The 2026-27 season is going to be an important one for Wyckoff, as Florida State can either return to the tournament or continue to fall. Wyckoff certainly brought in enough talent to allow Florida State to push forward positively, with massive additions like Timaya Lewis-Eutsey, who won the 2026 WNIT Championship with Marshall.
Florida State will also play a second exhibition game at home against Palm Beach Atlantic on October 22.
More: Baseball begins the shortened Fall Ball season against Jacksonville, North Florida
Winter might be quickly approaching, but it is baseball season all year round, and the brief Fall Ball season is set to start this weekend for Florida State. Coach Link Jarrett and his team were originally supposed to start the season on October 10 against Auburn in Pensacola, but the game was unfortunately canceled due to Hurricane Isaias.
The developmental season will now start on October 16 against Jacksonville in Tallahassee, and continue the next day on October 17 against North Florida. The last game of the season will be played on October 24 against South Florida in Clearwater at BayCare Ballpark. The Garnet and Gold All-Star game on October 30 will be the last event for the baseball team until February.
