Another week, another pile of Florida State news piled up to the ceiling after athletics had a busy few days. The football team snagged a huge win at home over a tough opponent, the volleyball team stood strong through two weekend matches, and the soccer team is back in the win column after a difficult three-game stretch. Here are the past few days of Florida State athletics headlines that you may have missed.
Florida State QB Ashton Daniels, OL Andre Otto earn Week 5 ACC Players of the Week honors
After a big win over Virginia in Week 5, two Florida State players were recognized as ACC Players of the Week. Quarterback Ashton Daniels and offensive lineman Andre Otto were both added to the list after playing a major part in the win. One player is selected for each position group.
Daniels had a breakout game of sorts for Florida State with the help of his legs, posting a new school record for most touchdowns scored in a single game. The five-touchdown, 136-yard performance on the ground was more than enough to solidify a spot on the list for Daniels. The quarterback also added an 81-yard score against a very strong Virginia Cavaliers' defense.

In addition to Daniels locking down a spot this week, offensive lineman Andre Otto also joined him on the list. The offensive line has been, at times, the problem that stalls the offense completely this season for Florida State. Much like the rest of the team, the offensive line looked far different against Virginia, and Otto played a key role in helping the Seminoles break off big plays.
Softball lands two commitments from twin sisters Keira and Kelsey Luderer
With the shortened Fall season underway, it is officially time to begin getting hyped up for the upcoming Florida State softball season. The Seminoles finished with a record of 52-10 last season before the year came to a close against UCF in the regional final. The staff has been working hard to correct some of what went wrong at the end of the season, while also bringing in talent for the future.

Florida State softball recently picked up a pair of commitments from twin sisters Keira and Kelsey Luderer. Keira is a standout catcher who has developed a reputation for making exciting plays with her arm. At the plate, Keira can hit for power with a tendency to pull the ball, and her speed around the bases is notable.
Kelsey, on the other hand, is a utility player with much of her experience coming from the middle of the infield. Kelsey is a smooth operator defensively, and her quick footwork and glove transitions help make difficult plays possible. With the bat in her hands, Kelsey is a bit different as a hitter when compared to her sister, with more of an emphasis on pushing the ball.
The duo will be joining the Florida State softball team as members of the 2028 recruiting class in the future.
More: Volleyball sweeps weekend matches against NC State, Wake Forest
It was a busy weekend for Florida State volleyball with matches against NC State and Wake Forest before a brief non-conference break.
First up, the Seminoles faced the Wolfpack in what was a very close 3-0 win through the first two sets of play. Florida State won the first two sets 26-24 and 28-26 before crushing NC State, 25-15, in the third and final set. The sweep came at a pivotal time for the Seminoles after a 3-0 loss to Miami in Coral Gables.
Two days later, Florida State faced off against Wake Forest for the first time since securing a thrilling five-set win over the Demon Deacons during the 2025 season. Both teams look a bit different this season, and the Seminoles were able to roll past the Demon Deacons for another 3-0 victory on the weekend.
Two matches, two sweeps for Florida State before heading into a non-conference tune-up against Jacksonville. The Seminoles are about to enter a key stretch in the ACC following the match against Jacksonville, with Georgia Tech, Clemson, Pittsburgh, and SMU waiting. The upcoming four-match stretch could dictate where the team finishes this season.
More: Soccer takes down No. 23 Clemson in South Carolina
Florida State soccer was back in action on October 4 against a ranked Clemson team after playing just two games in the last three weeks. The Seminoles traveled to Clemson to take on the Tigers after failing to secure a win in the last three games. It had been a tough stretch for Florida State, but the hard-fought 2-1 win over the Tigers could give the team some much-needed momentum.
Midfielder Sam Erbach opened up the scoring early for the Seminoles with her fourth goal of the season, and three minutes later, Wrianna Hudson added another. Clemson responded with a goal from Juju Harris, but the Seminoles' goalkeeper Kate Ockene kept the net empty the rest of the game to help secure the win. Ockene finished with three key saves as the entire Florida State defense looked improved after three-straight draws.
