Florida State opens up its 2026 season against the New Mexico State Aggies on Saturday, August 29th. The Seminoles' fan base has been quiet this offseason after the program's second straight losing season.

Much of the fan base's frustration has to do with the job that head coach Mike Norvell has done lately. This isn't your grandparents' version that had the luxury of seeing the legendary Bobby Bowden in action.

Nonetheless, I hope that Norvell gets it turned around in Tallahassee. On3's JD PicKell highlighted a report by Athlon where an anonymous coach mentioned that Florida State didn't have the booster support that people thought that it did. While I believe that the Seminole Boosters do a tremendous job, it is difficult to get behind a program that has six losing seasons in eight years.

With that said, boosters are people too. You don't want to see your favorite team lose time after time with no positive outlook in sight. There has to be something positive to cling to. Luckily, the Seminoles just released more kickoff times for the 2026 season.

I cannot be more thrilled that the kickoff against New Mexico State on Saturday, August 29th, is at 7:00 PM EST on the CW Network. While I am not the biggest fan of it being broadcast on the CW, it did allow the Seminoles to have a night slate on the network.

The Aggies are 28.5-point road underdogs against the Seminoles, so Florida State should (and I really mean SHOULD) have an advantage over New Mexico State. Plus, have you ever experienced a day game in late August/early September in Tallahassee? The sunshine is horrendous.

Doak Campbell Stadium is one of the greatest venues in college football at night, even when the program isn't in the best spot. However, during the day, the Tallahassee sun can dry a person out like a raisin.

While I know that people have to wait around for kickoff time, it should be a great turnout for the opener against New Mexico State. I cannot wait to be in Tallahassee!
