This legacy commit could be the offensive tackle prospect FSU is looking for

The search to add at least one offensive tackle to the FSU recruiting class will continue into the season. Mike Norvell and staff are already bringing in UCLA commit Johnnie Jones for the Alabama game and now will bring in three-star prospect Aaron Thomas, an Ohio State commit.

Thomas, who lives in Phoenix, will be in Tallahassee for the Miami game on October 4 and there are a lot of reasons to be bullish on the possibility of flipping this 6-foot-7, 300-pounder.

As you can see from the above photo, Thomas has already been to Tallahassee. He took an official visit there in June and the Seminoles were among a group of finalists that included Texas A&M and Washington.

But, more importantly, Thomas is a legacy recruit. His father, Eric Thomas, played for the Seminoles from 1995 to 1999, winning a BCS national championship with the Seminoles in 1999. Both of his parents graduated from FSU, so, If nothing else, it's likely that the younger Thomas grew up an FSU fan.

Why are FSU legacy recruits heading to Columbus?

Here's the crazy thing. Thomas is not the only legacy prospect committed to Ohio State. Three-star tight end Corbyn Fordham is also committed to the Buckeyes. His father, Todd Fordham, played for the Seminoles from 1992-1996 and was part of a national title team in 1993.

If you want to know why the younger Fordham didn't really pursue FSU after a junior day visit in January, it's because he wasn't bullish on the direction of the program, according to Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

I guess you can't win them all, but losing two legacy recruits, especially one at a major position of need, like offensive tackle, and another at tight end, a position where Mike Norvell and Gus Malzahn are known for high usage rates, has to sting a lot.

It's one thing to miss out on legacy prospects because they aren't FSU-caliber (hello DeCalon Brooks), but these two prospects are committed to OHIO STATE?!?! What are we doing here?

Anyway, this has to be rectified immediately, and hopefully it starts by flipping Thomas on October 4.
