There's no secret that FSU needs some offensive tackles in this class. The Seminoles staff have struck out on most of their targets, so the next step is to flip someone from another program.

And that's where four-star prospect Johnnie "DJ" Jones comes in.ย

โ€‹FSU and Jones are no strangers to each other. The in-state prospect (Venice) took an official visit to Tallahassee on May 30, and now he'll be heading back to campus on August 30 for the Alabama camp.ย

And with that second opportunity, Jones now has to be considered the top target remaining on FSU's recruiting board, regardless of position. He's a composite top-ten player at his position in the nation. He's playing for a program at Venice High where FSU has had success recruiting in the past.

โ€‹Jones spoke positively about the Seminoles during his visit and said he noticed a change in the overall environment of the program.

"It is just different," Jones told Chris Nee of 247Sports . ย "Last year they were 2-10, but just being with the players and the coaches, I saw a different mindset of we're going past that year, we're going to go back to how we usually are and that is winning games."

Of the five official visits Jones took over the spring, FSU was the only in-state program he selected with UCLA, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Colorado. That's certainly an interesting mix of schools - a couple in the SEC and a couple in the Big XII, with location not appearing to be an issue.

One would think that being located in the state would play well for FSU, especially when Jones committed to a program 3,000 miles away. Putting together a good performance against Alabama in front of a raucous crowd would probably do wonders for FSU's shot at flipping Jones. This is a recruitment that could come down to the final days of the Early Signing Period.ย
