Florida State had many quarterback prospects from the portal on campus over the last couple of days, which included Florida's DJ Lagway, UNLV's Anthony Colandrea, and Auburn's Ashton Daniels.
To be honest, Lagway and Colandrea were getting the most attention. However, one name has emerged in the quarterback search: Ashton Daniels. The former Stanford Cardinal came to the Plains as someone who was an athlete but wasn't a polished passer.
On Monday night, On3's Pete Nakos put in an expert prediction in favor of Florida State for Auburn transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels.

Florida State predicted to land Auburn QB transfer Ashton Daniels
Daniels was someone who entered the transfer portal when South Florida head football coach Alex Golesh was hired by the Tigers. The signal-caller showed flashes of being successful, but only had a small sample size of what he was made of.
The quarterback played in four games with Auburn, where he completed 68 of his 119 passes for 797 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions, as well as rushed for 280 yards and two touchdowns (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
I will suggest that the move to get Daniels could be depth for the quarterback position group at Florida State. He has been in college for four years, and could be a solid locker room guy who could help the youngster Kevin Sperry along.
If Florida State were able to grab Ashton Daniels in the portal, it could allow the Seminoles to still get another quarterback if they wanted to, or it could tell Kevin Sperry that they are confident in him taking the number-one quarterback spot.
Nonetheless, this should not be a situation where fans get upset that Florida State grabbed Daniels out of the portal.
