Florida State softball had its back against the wall in a must-win game against Jacksonville State in the Tallahassee Regional after losing against Stetson on Friday.
Florida State responded like they have all year after a loss, they took it out on the next team with an explosive offensive effort, and a shutout in the circle from FSU pitchers. The Noles won 11-0 via five-inning run-rule. Â
The Noles didn’t waste any time jumping all over the Gamecocks with four runs in the top of the second inning (FSU was the visiting team at home, which is always dumb). They scored four more in the top of the fourth and three more in the top of the fifth, for an 11-0 lead.
Florida State will get a chance for revenge and the chance to send Stetson home.
Kennedy Harp got the scoring started with a solo home run. Isa Torres hit a two-RBI triple, and Jaysoni Beachum had an RBI single in the second inning. Hayley Griggs hit a solo home run to get the scoring started in the fourth, and Jaysoni Beachum followed with a three-run home run to end the scoring in that inning. Griggs and Torres had run-scoring hits in the top of the fifth.
ACC Pitcher of the Year Jazzy Francik and Makenna Reid combined for the shutout. They only allowed four hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.
It was a great response from Florida State as they faced elimination. Jacksonville State is eliminated from the regional with the loss. Florida State will face Stetson in a rematch at 5 p.m.

See you at 5 p.m. against the Hatters#Team43 pic.twitter.com/w2m4mfcggE
The Hatters surprised everyone by defeating the Noles 8-3 in the first game of the Tallahassee Regional on Friday. They used an explosive offense to jump out to an early lead, and the Florida State offense couldn’t put enough at-bats together to overcome the deficit. Stetson was destroyed by UCF 10-1 in the earlier game, and Florida State would have to beat UCF twice to advance to Super Regionals if they defeat Stetson on Saturday.
