FLORIDA STATE VERSUS MIAMI
Let me start by saying that I absolutely despise the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes. The color orange just sends me to another dimension, plus their fan base is delusional, where they believe that they are "back" every single year, just to be put back in their place.
I have to give credit where it is due. The Hurricanes battled against the likes of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 27-24. Notre Dame made it interesting in the fourth quarter as they fought back from a 21-7 deficit.
The 20-yard one-handed touchdown reception by former LSU and Liberty wide receiver transfer CJ Daniels late in the second quarter, to give the Hurricanes a 14-7 lead going into halftime, created a sense of confidence for their offense.
Individuals across college football say that the sport is better when Florida State and Miami are at the top. I don't want to jinx anything because both the Seminoles and Hurricanes have to win football games and show up every game.
MATCHUP FOR THE AGES
The Seminoles take on East Texas A&M next Saturday, while the Hurricanes face off against Bethune-Cookman. It should be an easier Week 2, but Miami has to play South Florida in Week 3, then Florida in Week 4. Florida State will have a date scheduled with the Virginia Cavaliers on a Friday night road game that could be challenging before the showdown against the Hurricanes.
However, Florida State and Miami could mean something again on Saturday, October 4th. If you thought Doak Campbell Stadium was rocking in the win versus Alabama (it was), then a potential night game versus the Hurricanes could be even more electric.
We know how Miami has operated in the last twenty years. They find a way to be successful early in the year, and then they fall out of the championship contender race by the end of the season. Nonetheless, I will never suggest that I want to see the Hurricanes be undefeated heading into the Florida State game, but I wouldn't mind seeing the stadium under the lights.
