Thus far in the transfer portal, Florida State fans have not been too pleased with Mike Norvell seemingly forgetting about the need for some offensive tackle help. Thankfully for those angry FSU supporters, a major splash has just arrived.

Yup, Norvell has silenced plenty of people, as CBS' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz have reported that Auburn transfer Xavier Chaplin has shut down his recruitment and that he's going to be Tallahassee-bound for next season. Chaplin just wrapped up the 2025 campaign with the Tigers, starting every game for the SEC side. It's safe to say this is a monster get for Norvell and his staff:

This is what we're talking about! While Florida State has been busy bringing in new players via the portal, the lack of tackle help indeed was a concern for plenty of people. However, this Chaplin news alone is a complete and total game-changer for the Noles.

From the moment it was announced that the 6-7, 348-pounder was going to be looking for a new home, several programs immediately showed interest. The long list of course included Florida State, with Norvell doing enough to sell him on what the future will look like for him in the ACC.

According to the Florida State 247Sports site, Chaplin was down to Kentucky and Florida State. It was close for the big-bodied lineman, but in the end he knew that he wanted to suit up for Norvell and make a difference for the offensive line.

Once Chaplin makes the move to campus, he'll look to hit the ground running and cement his spot as a starter. There's still more work to be done up front for Norvell in the portal, but the addition of Chaplin is something that will be celebrated throughout the weekend.
