Florida State football recruiting isn't going the way that the Seminole fan base hoped that it would, as the program is currently ranked as the 41st-best recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite.
Florida State only has six commitments in the class, and they are on the verge of losing their best prospect in four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams from Ruskin, Florida, to LSU and Lane Kiffin. That would be a big disappointment.
This isn't a shot at head coach Mike Norvell and his recruiting efforts because plenty of prospects enjoy their relationship with him, but at some point, the Seminoles have to pay up in the NIL space and win football games on the gridiron.
The arch-rival Miami Hurricanes are doing just that. I never thought that I would see the Hurricanes good again, and there were individuals thinking that they would be stuck in the early 2000's. However, they have proved the doubters and stepped up to the plate.
With that said, the Seminoles were after a highly-touted running back prospect in four-star Ty Keys, who is from Poplarville, Mississippi. Florida State was thought to be the leader in the recruitment. While the running back position isn't a high priority compared to the offensive and defensive trenches, the Seminoles still need to stack talent on their roster.
Four-star running back Brayden Tyson announces his commitment date
The Seminoles have other recruits at the running back position who were involved with other than Keys. One prospect is four-star Brayden Tyson from Snellville, Georgia. Tyson was expected to visit Florida State on the weekend of June 12th.
However, his plans might change in that regard, as Tyson announced that he will be committing on May 15th. He is fresh off his South Carolina official visit on the weekend of May 1st.

The Gamecocks have not been the model of consistency in terms of wins on the field. Most individuals thought that their head coach, Shane Beamer, should have been fired last season.
It would be disappointing to lose yet another prospect elsewhere, after the Seminoles were planning to get an official visit. Florida State's recruiting class is spiraling out of control, and they generate some sort of excitement in the near future.
