Florida State basketball has been on an absolute heater lately, where they have won eleven of their last fourteen games. The Seminoles capped off another victory on Wednesday night, as they defeated the California Golden Bears by a score of 95-89.
Our own Kelvin Hunt talked about Florida State's sensational win, as they charge on to play Duke on Thursday at 7 PM EST on ESPN. This will be a tough challenge for head coach Luke Loucks and his squad, but it looks like they have the confidence to show what they are made of.
This is a night-and-day difference from the team earlier in the year. Florida State fans have to tip their hat off to Coach Loucks for his team rebounding after that embarrassing loss to North Carolina State. They could've easily packed it in and gave up on the season but they didn't.
This isn't to say that the Seminoles have a high chance of making it to the NCAA Tournament, but a close game over Duke could give them enough confidence to build off of.
Robert McCray V could be the difference maker in the contest against the Blue Devils
Head coach Luke Loucks knows that the Seminoles are playing red-hot right now, and there aren't many schools that want to play them. Florida State has already beaten two teams that are on the bubble in SMU and California.
This is a big ovation for senior guard Robert McCray V. He has played his heart out for this basketball team this year. He scored 30 points in the recent win against the Golden Bears. However, McCray V will have to play out of his mind against the Blue Devils to have a chance of being 18.5-point underdogs.
Florida State lost to Duke in the regular season by a score of 91-87, where McCray V had 22 points and five assists during the contest (according to ESPN Stats and Information). This meeting happened on January 3rd, but the Seminoles should be playing with aggression and a sense of confidence with nothing to lose.
This team cannot be counted out with how well it has been playing. Hopefully, head coach Luke Loucks and guard Robert McCray V can generate success and get the win.
