Florida State football's coaching staff has been working relentlessly on getting 2027 prospects in the class. One of head coach Mike Norvell's downfalls during his tenure with the Seminoles has been high school recruiting. He has not secured a top-ten recruiting class yet.
Florida State has five commitments so far in the 2027 cycle, ranking 14th according to the 247Sports Composite. That doesn't meet the standard of this program, which competes for championships. However, it is still super early in the process.
With that said, many prospects are scheduling their spring unofficial visits then the summer trips will commence. Here are five prospects that Florida State needs to land in the 2027 recruiting class.
4-star QB Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV
The quarterback position is vital to a team's success. Even though they should have options in Kevin Sperry, Jaden O'Neal, and Malachi Marshall in 2027, the coaches should not be afraid to add other options. Four-star quarterback Wonderful Monds IV is from Vero Beach, Florida, and has shown interest in Florida State, but teams like Florida and Notre Dame are pushing for his services.
4-star IOL Jatori Williams
Florida State needs maulers on the offensive line for assistant coach Herb Hand to guide. At some point, the Seminoles will stop acquiring transfers and go after homegrown talent to start. Four-star interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams from Phenix City, Alabama, is a perfect option. He is listed at 6'5" and 320 pounds and isn't afraid to do the dirty work on the offensive line.
4-star WR Jabari Watkins
Florida State wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. has done an excellent job with recruiting the position. However, the Seminoles should always be pursuing pass catchers. You can never have enough of them. Florida State really seems to love four-star wide receiver Jabari Watkins from Thomasville, Georgia, which is right up the road. The Seminoles need to seal the deal here.
4-star DE Jabarrius "Chicken" Garror
Four-star defensive end Jabarrius "Chicken" Garror from Mobile, Alabama, is currently committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, but the Seminoles have been chipping away at his recruitment after he has been to campus multiple times. Garror had 106 tackles (32.5 for loss) and 21 sacks during his junior season (according to MaxPreps).
4-star DE Sam LeJeune
Florida State already landed a talented four-star defensive lineman in its 2027 class with Anthony Cavallaro. However, assistant coach Nick Williams isn't done constructing his unit for the future. He has his eyes set on four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune from Poplarville, Mississippi, who will be officially visiting the Seminoles on June 12th. Mississippi State will get a visit after Florida State, so the coaching staff will have to make a big impression on LeJeune to keep him from staying home.
