Florida State football finished with a 2-10 record in 2024. As a result, the fan base is tired of hearing about the potential and what the team should look like. They want to see the performances on the field turn into wins.
Last season was supposed to be about winning a conference championship and potentially securing a spot in the College Football Playoff. Most individuals understood the notion that the squad wasn't going to be as good as the 2023 version since they were double-digit players from the roster that got drafted to the NFL.
However, head football coach Mike Norvell was thought to have a plan in place, but that was not the case as the Seminoles had one of their worst seasons in program history.
Norvell did not shy away from the disappointment as he alluded to there being big changes this offseason. It is severely needed as the program needs a positive spark of energy.
Florida State first went out and fired assistant coaches who did not meet the standard of what they wanted as a program. Then, they hired individuals who have had plenty of big-game experience and success at the collegiate level.
Those newly hired coaches went on the recruiting trail and secured a top-20 recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. They also went and acquired thirteen transfers via the portal. Florida State does not look to be done in that department, as they have hosted several transfers on campus over the past week.
There are some transfers that the Seminoles seem to sit in a good position for. I am not into hyping up excitement in the program, but some assistants on staff seem to believe that good news is coming soon (probably means a transfer portal acquisition).
My initial guess is that Florida State will end up getting Tennessee defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins, who recorded nine tackles, two sacks, and one forced fumble last season for the Volunteers. I know that some fans will be unimpressed by the take, but you can never have too many defensive linemen.
