Florida State football has made many major changes since the Seminoles capped off a disappointing 2-10 record in 2024. Head football coach Mike Norvell knew that this was not the standard of what Florida State was all about.
When you struggle this much on the field, it becomes increasingly difficult to lure talented pieces on the roster when the struggles were on display last year. Norvell went to work and constructed an impressive coaching staff, and the Early Signing Period was a success for the Seminoles. Now, the program has eleven transfers, and they don't seem to be finished yet.
Historically, Norvell has been known to acquire productive transfers to provide depth on the roster. However, one gripe that the fan base has at times is that it seems like Florida State relies heavily on that aspect instead of developing homegrown talent.
Florida State is hosting several transfers on visits such as running back Rahsul Faison, wide receiver Squirrel White, interior offensive lineman Luke Petitbon (signee), defensive end Jayson Jenkins, defensive end Deamontae Diggs, defensive end Chris Murray, linebacker Marques Watson-Trent, and linebacker Caleb LaVallee.
This is a ton of transfers that made their way to Tallahassee. Florida State is under immense pressure to perform, given the season that they had in 2024. Out of the list of transfers, I am most intrigued by Faison and Watson-Trent since they have the most production.
Faison can be a starting back with having 1,000 yards last year, while Watson-Trent was very productive at Georgia Southern, where he had 356 tackles in three years. Those two can turn the fortunes of the Seminoles' 2025 team into something special.
