Florida State football didn't have the 2025 season that it wanted after it defeated Alabama in the opener, which was great, but it lost seven of its final nine games to give its fan base a sour taste in their mouths.
This isn't the expectation that the legendary Bobby Bowden built at Florida State. However, that is the reality that the Seminoles are in after having six losing seasons in eight years.
Head coach Mike Norvell is already on the hot seat by most individuals after the disappointing road loss to Stanford. To make matters worse, the quarterback position has been a disaster if it doesn't include former signal-caller Jordan Travis.
Ashton Daniels was announced the starting quarterback for Florida State
Norvell has tested the transfer market waters with McKenzie Milton, DJ Uiagalelei, and Thomas Castellanos, and they were not good additions for the Seminoles. However, the fan base is hoping that the trend changes with the pickup of Ashton Daniels.
The Seminoles decided to name former Stanford and Auburn transfer Ashton Daniels as the starter on Tuesday afternoon. With that announcement, fans don't seem too thrilled about the news.

I don't blame the fan base for being cautiously optimistic since Daniels has thrown 24 career touchdowns and 22 career interceptions during his time in college. That shouldn't wow anyone, but the veteran showed flashes with Auburn, where the Tigers' fan base wanted him to start over Jackson Arnold.
The Florida State fans see redshirt freshman Kevin Sperry and JUCO Malachi Marshall on the roster. These signal-callers are very talented, and Marshall hasn't even enrolled in the university yet. With that said, the fan base sees that Sperry showed promise last year and Marshall was the top JUCO quarterback in the 2026 cycle.
Norvell shouldn't worry about what the fans think because his job is on the line if the season doesn't go well. He will control his own destiny with calling plays for the 2026 season.
