Florida State softball moved to within one win of sweeping Boston College and securing the ACC regular season title with an 8-0 win on Saturday afternoon. Ashtyn Danley was outstanding in the circle, nearly repeating Jazzy Francik’s no-hit bid from Friday.
She went the distance, allowing three hits, no walks, and 10 strikeouts. Two of the hits Boston College got came in the bottom of the sixth inning on two softly hit balls.
The FSU offense wasted no time jumping in front with a two RBI single by Bella Ruggerio in the top of the first. Jaysoni Beachum blasted a two-run home run in the top of the third, and Haley Griggs blasted a deep two-run home run in the top of the fourth.
Jaysoni Beachum continued her big day at the plate with a two-run double in the top of the fourth, and Makenna Sturgis had an RBI double in the top of the sixth to push the lead to 8-0. Beachum finished 2-2 with three RBI, two walks, and two runs scored. Danley went 2-4 at the plate, and Haley Griggs went 2-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Florida State is taking care of business as they should agaisnt a bad Boston College team.
Boston College isn’t a good team, and they have some seniors who are out with injuries. Florida State is performing well against a team they should dominate, and look to be in a good position to capture another ACC regular-season title with Duke losing a game against Clemson last week. The two teams are tied for first place, and a win by Florida State secures the regular-season title.
Florida State would be the overall No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament with a win over Boston College on Sunday. Florida State will need to go deep in the tournament or win it all to hopefully boost its RPI ranking to help its overall postseason seeding.
