Florida State takes on the Virginia Tech Hokies tonight at 7:30 PM EST for the final home game of the season in Doak Campbell Stadium. The fan base isn't as juiced up, as the Seminoles have suffered losses in five of his last six games. Hopefully, high school recruits get excited about the matchup and atmosphere.

The pitchforks have been thrown in the direction of head football coach Mike Norvell, who has followed up the 2-10 campaign in 2024 with a 4-5 record in 2025.

College football teams are quick to fire coaches, but individuals understand that this has been six years of Mike Norvell and the standard has not been met in Tallahassee. It would be different if this was a discussion about someone like Brian Kelly, who had a 34-14 record at LSU, but Coach Norvell has a combined 37-32 record with the Seminoles.

TONY WHITE TWEET

Mike Norvell has not been the only coach that has taken criticism this season with the Seminoles. His assistant coaches Gus Malzahn and Tony White have only been victims of this.

Coach White has one of my favorite pickups this offseason, due to his success with teams such as Syracuse and Nebraska. However, I know that the fan base has expressed concerns with the 3-3-5 defensive scheme.

Given that quarterbacks Carson Beck, Chandler Morris, and Mason Heintschel gave his unit fits, the Seminole faithful is hoping that Virginia Tech Kyron Drones doesn't give Florida State problems.

Defensive coordinator Tony White posted on Twitter (X) that this is the last time in Doak Campbell Stadium and thanks Tallahassee.

This made the fan base wonder if he was foreshadowing to not being Florida State's defensive coordinator next year. His unit has not played with the same physicality and aggression since the UCLA head football coaching job come open.

This is something that Seminole fans will monitor. If Coach Norvell eventually gets relieved of his duties, it won't matter anyway, with Tony White being let go with him.
