Florida State football started on a good note to begin the 2025 season, as they defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 31-17. Many of the SEC apologists, such as ESPN's Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy, thought that the Seminoles wouldn't have a chance.
Alabama has been viewed by the public as being this powerhouse, but hasn't been the same since Nick Saban unexpectedly retired. Saban probably knew when all the NIL came into play that it would be too much for him to handle and manage.
Regardless, the Crimson Tide has not lived up to its lofty expectations since Kalen DeBoer took over. Then the Indiana Hoosiers beat them in blowout fashion in their College Football Playoff matchup. The fan base is starting to get restless.
Florida State hosted 2027 Alabama defensive end commit Jabarrius Garror on campus Saturday
Florida State had its Junior Day event this weekend, where there were 2027 prospects on campus. We talked previously about the Seminoles getting in a good position for four-star quarterback Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV from Vero Beach, Florida. However, there was one more intriguing one to monitor.
The Seminoles also hosted four-star defensive end Jabarrius Garror (Alabama commit) from Vigor High School in Mobile, Alabama. According to MaxPreps, Garror was very dominant during his junior season, where he had 106 tackles (32.5 for loss) and 21 sacks.
This would be a pass rusher that Florida State has to prioritize. Just look at how successful the Seminoles' arch-rival Miami Hurricanes, are this year because they make sure to grab the offensive and defensive trenches.
It is understood that Garror is from Alabama, and we all know what happened with the Keldric Faulk situation (he was also from Alabama) and flipped from Florida State to Auburn on Signing Day. However, when there is talent out there, the coaching staff cannot be afraid to go grab them just because of the state that they live in.
