Florida State could be in danger of losing yet another four-star RB to an ACC school

This is a bummer for Florida State recruiting to lose out on a talented back.

Florida State football's recruiting class for the 2027 cycle has been stuck at six commitments for quite some time. The Seminoles have not been in the graces of good news lately, as the program has suffered through two straight losing seasons.

When Florida State had the phenomenal campaign in 2023, there were individuals who thought that the recruiting class would skyrocket, but it only finished as the 12th-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite.

The reality is that head coach Mike Norvell has never had a top-ten recruiting class during his time at Florida State. The administration made a commitment to keep him around for the 2026 season. The hope was that the wins would come back. However, the recruiting class is taking a dip, as most don't know the future of the head coach with the Seminoles.

Florida State has already seen prospects commit elsewhere, and we saw four-star running back Ty Keys pledge to arch-rival Miami and four-star Brayden Tyson commit to South Carolina, faking out the Seminoles' hat in his ceremony.

While running back isn't a position that is necessarily a top need with pieces like Tre Wisner, Ousmane Kromah, Sam Singleton Jr, and Amari Thomas in the rotation, it is always a smart investment to stack talent. That's what elite teams do.

Four-star running back Gary Walker trending to the Clemson Tigers

Four-star running back target Gary Walker from Fairburn, Georgia, was someone who was supposed to officially visit Florida State on the weekend of June 19th, but he announced recently that he will be making his commitment on May 20th at 1:00 PM EST on Rivals' YouTube channel.

This is disappointing because Clemson is now the crystal ball leader for Walker, and the running back targets continue to come off the board. If the Tigers end up getting him, I don't expect the Georgia native to make it to Florida State's campus for the official visit.

It is great that the Seminoles will probably get three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty, as he will be making his commitment tomorrow at 1:30 PM EST. Fans won't be as thrilled because he is a three-star prospect right now. Florida State still needs to get one running back prospect in this class.
