Florida State's coaching staff has brought in several talented 2027 prospects to campus, but the Seminoles have only five recruits committed to the fold at this time. They rank as the 11th-best recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite.
Head football coach Mike Norvell had yet another underwhelming season, where he limped to the finish line of a 5-7 record. The Seminoles have four losing seasons in six years, and that should never be the standard at a proud place like Florida State.
Meanwhile, head coach Mario Cristobal has allowed Miami to reach new heights for the first time in over twenty years. Miami struggling was something that the Seminoles' fan base could hang their hat on, but their recent appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Indiana has changed the narrative of its program.
Florida State continues to battle for four-star safety commit Mekhi Williams
The success of Miami has made it even more difficult for the Seminoles to recruit. We already know the heavy investment that Coach Cristobal puts into recruiting. The Hurricanes have gone all-in on flipping four-star defensive back commit Mekhi Williams from Ruskin, Florida.
Williams had a recent home visit with Cristobal and his staff, where he put up "The U" hand gesture, even though he is committed to Florida State. These high school recruits are all over the place sometimes, and NIL could also be a factor, where Miami has the inside track on resources.
It was reported by On3's EJ Holland that Williams has scheduled his official visit with Miami for June 19th.

Florida State could get the last visit with Williams, but they have to knock it out of the park. With that, the coaching staff probably needs to succeed on the gridiron and continue recruiting heavily on the defensive back all the way to the Early Signing Period in December.
