Year one of a new conference, and Florida State beach volleyball looks like they’ve done this a hundred times. Absolutely rolling through the Big Xll, the Noles completed the tournament 4-0 and are headed back to Tallahassee with some new hardware.
Held at Arizona University, the conference tournament began this past Thursday with six total teams, expanding from prior years. The Noles entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed; however, they had some serious competition ahead of them, as the 2025 National Champions TCU were also in the bracket as the No. 2 seed, setting the stage for a competitive weekend from the start.
Big time showing from the Noles to win the Big XII Conference Tournament.
Day one began with two three-team pools, where the Noles took down fifth-seeded Boise State and fourth-seeded South Carolina. Those performances allowed the Noles to advance into day 2 as pool winners, earning a bye directly into the semifinals. There, Florida State continued it’s run, delivering a clean sweep over Arizona 3-0 to advance to the Championship match.
The title game took place on Friday against No. 2 seed TCU, where Florida State showed no signs of struggle, securing the Big Xll Championship with another 3-0 sweep over the reigning national champions. During the awards ceremony, standout pair Maddi Trusty and Gella Andrews earned All-tournament Team honors and also served as the final pairing to clinch the championship victory.
Earlier this morning, the NCAA selection show announced that Florida State will enter the tournament as the No. 5 seed, where they will begin their postseason run against Stetson in the opening round. After shifting around pairs for the conference tournament, it’s still unclear if there will be any late-season changes to the lineup, however given their success in conference play, it seems pretty unlikely at this point.
The NCAA Championships will begin this Friday in Gulf Shores, where Florida State will look to carry all the same energy and momentum from their dominant conference play onto the national stage in pursuit of the title. Don’t forget to check out these amazing women as they play on the center stage.
