Florida State Beach Volleyball heads into its final regular-season tournament this weekend in Clearwater Beach, looking to finish off an incredible season before heading into the conference championships. Following their dominant five-match sweep at the unconquered invitational season opener, without dropping a single dual point, the Noles continued to perform. They racked up a 25-2 overall record and 6-1 mark in conference play while climbing into the top 5 nationally.
A major highlight of the team’s season has been the performance of Pair 1, Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig, who have remained undefeated all season. This duo has earned multiple conference honors and was just celebrated for their 2025 All-American selection, solidifying themselves as one of the top pairs in the country.
Another key point of success for Florida State has been the team’s ability to secure crucial wins in tightly contested duals. Pairs like Maddi Trusty and Gella Andrews have delivered hard-fought three-set victories after early court splits, stepping up to secure deciding points. This consistency in ranked matchups has given the Noles something to brag about.
Florida State is in a prime spot to finish strong this weekend.
Despite their overall success, there has still been moments of inconsistency throughout the lineup. Beach volleyball is so much more than throwing the best players on the court; it requires figuring out which two players best complement each other’s skillsets and have the strongest flow. You also must consider not only how each pair matches up against their opponents, but also how to strategically position them across all five courts.
With only four games remaining before the conference championships, the Noles need to solidify their top 5 pairs. As they prepare to enter their first ever conference tournament as members of the Big 12, establishing a lineup that they can also take into the NCAA’s will give them their best shot at a National Championship.
