Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is not where many fans want it to be right now. That is probably because of the job security of head coach Mike Norvell. Many individuals thought that he was going to be fired after the Stanford road loss, but the administration elected to keep him around for 2026.
This puts high school recruits in a bad spot because of the uncertainty that Mike Norvell might not be the coach at Florida State in 2027. Then, if the Seminoles hire another head coach, what if they push those committed prospects out of Florida State's recruiting class? It is a reasonable concern.
Nonetheless, the Seminoles will try to make the most of their opportunity this weekend, as Florida State will be hosting four-star defensive lineman Anthony Cavallaro (commit), four-star defensive lineman Karlos May, four-star running back Jayden Miles, three-star defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr., and three-star wide receiver Antwan Lockett.
Florida State will be focused on acquiring the defensive trenches this weekend
When looking at those five official visitors, the Seminoles will be attempting to fill their defensive line with talented prospects. Florida State landed eight defensive linemen during the 2026 recruiting class, so there should be a common theme this year, as well.
One of the bigger names on the list is four-star defensive lineman Karlos May from Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama. I can already see Seminole fans concerned when I mentioned the state of Alabama, and they probably get PTSD from the Keldric Faulk situation.
However, May is a prospect that the Seminoles need to land in this recruiting class, but he is the 182nd-best recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings. As a result, schools such as Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State are involved.
