Florida State football finished the 2025 season with a 5-7 record. This was a disappointment to the fan base, who had defeated Alabama in the season opener.
Head football coach Mike Norvell is having to hit the reset button after the Seminoles finished with seven wins in two years. This isn't the standard at a place like Florida State, which is the place that the legendary Bobby Bowden built.
However, the administration gave Norvell another chance to fix the issues, as they retained him for the 2026 season. The first line of business has to be acquiring talent on their roster. The Seminoles had a quality 2026 recruiting class that could make some noise as true freshmen.
Florida State's coaching staff is involved with Class of 2027 four-star DE K.J. Green
Now that the majority of the 2026 recruiting class has enrolled with the Seminoles, the coaching staff is turning its attention to the 2027 cycle. Florida State already has four commitments in the fold, with four-star safety Mekhi Williams leading the charge.
However, the Seminoles will finish with way more than four prospects. It depends on how Florida State performs on the gridiron to determine the quality of the recruits that will say yes to the university.
It is great to see defensive ends coach Nick Williams already bringing the energy on the recruiting trail. Coach Williams is a young and energetic figure that youngsters can relate to. He already has the Seminoles positioned well with several pass rushers in the 2027 cycle.
Florida State seems to be going all-in for Class of 2027 four-star KJ Green from Stone Mountain, Georgia, as a couple of members from the coaching staff decided to visit with him.

It is refreshing to see an assistant coach expanding the recruiting board with talented options. The Seminoles' defensive line did not live up to the expectations that the fan base had after a dreadful 2024 campaign.
Nonetheless, if Florida State's defensive line performs well this year, it would make it so much easier for Tallahassee to become a destination for prospects like KJ Green.
