Florida State head coach Luke Loucks has been on fire in the transfer portal this week, with three blue-chip players, after failing to land a commitment in the first week the portal opened.
It’s easy to see what Loucks is trying to build at Florida State, and they have another target who visited this week still waiting to make a decision. Colorado’s Sebastian Rancik was on campus earlier this week and left without committing. He had plans to visit BYU and Kentucky, and only made it to Kentucky, as far as I can tell.
It sounded like it was a battle between Florida State and Kentucky, but the latest news makes it seem like Florida State has a real shot. However, it depends on what Kentucky wants to do:
Kentucky will have (absent a major change) either Freeman or Rancik by tomorrow

Still think UK needs to find another shooter and another Big
The other player Kentucky is considering is Syracuse forward Donnie Freeman, and it seems like most Kentucky fans would prefer him over Rancik. Some Kentucky fans would like both and have Rancik come off the bench.
Freeman does have better overall numbers, but Rancik was a starter at Colorado. I don’t see him getting in the transfer portal to come off the bench. He’d likely definitely be a starter at Florida State and would flourish in Luke Loucks offense. Rancik posted a video of himself on social media in a Kentucky uniform, but hasn’t committed, which makes me think they may be waiting to see if Freeman commits first.
If Freeman commits, then that could be the domino needed for Rancik to commit to Florida State. FSU adding two talented pieces since Rancik visited earlier this week would give him a better idea of what he’d be joining. He’d be the big man FSU needed who could stretch the floor. We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but if FSU landed Rancik? It would be a heck of a transfer portal haul by Luke Loucks and the staff.
