Florida State basketball is seeing the benefits of hiring head coach Luke Loucks. It didn't seem like it would be a great fit early on, with the blowout home loss to North Carolina State being worrisome for some individuals.
However, the Seminoles rebounded nicely and won eleven of their last fifteen games to finish with an 18-14 overall record. Florida State went toe-to-toe with the number-one-ranked Duke Blue Devils, which was encouraging to see for fans who wanted to build on the future after an era with longtime Leonard Hamilton.
The former Florida State point guard has been active in recruiting, where he just finished with a top-ten recruiting class, and now he is turning his attention to the transfer portal.
Florida State grabbed a major piece for their team in Missouri's Anthony Robinson II
The Seminoles have started with a bang in the transfer portal, where they picked up UNC Asheville's Kameron Taylor and Cincinnati's Shon Abaev. There is definitely a new era in Tallahassee, where Coach Loucks is trying to get length in his rotations.
Loucks depended on pieces last year, such as guard Robert McCray V and forward Chauncey Wiggins, who have exited the program. He is trying to make the 2026 season a special one, and he added another crucial piece in the transfer portal with Missouri guard Anthony Robinson II committing to Florida State on Thursday afternoon.

Robinson II is from Tallahassee and recently visited Florida State on Wednesday, but the arch-rival Miami Hurricanes were involved with acquiring his services. The dynamic guard averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals last year for the Tigers.
The former Florida State University High School standout was a defensive menace in the SEC, where he was on an SEC All-Defensive Team during his time with Missouri. If Luke Loucks wants to get Florida State back to March Madness, they needed to land prospects like Anthony Robinson II, and they did so by stealing him away from contention for arch-rival Miami.
