Luke Loucks could be dealt a stunning blow with a recent announcement

This is one of the more confusing portal entries this offseason.

Florida State basketball finished the 2025 season on a high note, where they won 11 of their last 15 games but lost to the number-one seed Duke in the ACC Tournament.

Luke Loucks and his coaching staff have to get the credit that they deserve after battling back from the blowout home loss to North Carolina State. This speaks volumes to the team's resilency of handling adverse situations.

First years aren't always smooth for a head coach, especially when having to replace a longtime figure like Leonard Hamilton. While it is understood that Luke Loucks was a former player at Florida State, there are still growing pains that teams have to go through.

Luke Loucks and Florida State have been dealt a confusing update with forward Chauncey Wiggins

Florida State's 2025 season was successful, in part due to the play of guard Robert McCray V and Chauncey Wiggins. Both of them found their stride on the perimeter to make Luke Loucks and his offensive vision clearer.

The Seminoles acquired former five-star prospect Shon Abaev from the Cincinnati Bearcats on Monday afternoon. The potential is high for Abaev in Florida State's offense if he can manage to piece everything together on the perimeter.

Unfortunately, Florida State can never get everything nice, as it was announced that forward Chauncey Wiggins was entering the transfer portal on Monday as well.

Wiggins came over from Clemson last offseason via the transfer portal and was second on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game. The talented veteran was a large reason why the Seminoles found success in the second half of the season.

Fans are confused by the announcement of Wiggins entering the transfer because it was thought that he was a senior. College athletics have become sports that find loopholes in eligibility all the time.

However, Wiggins played three seasons with Clemson from 2022 to 2024 and then played with Florida State for one season in 2025. Some players try to find a way around if their seasons were cut short due to injury, but the Atlanta, Georgia, played 27 games with the Tigers in 2022.

I give up on trying to understand the logistics of college eligibility. However, if Wiggins is eligible to play in 2026, he would certainly be a weapon that Florida State could use in its offense for Year 2 of the Luke Loucks era.
