Florida State basketball finished with a regular-season finale victory over the SMU Mustangs by a score of 91-78. Forward Chauncey Wiggins had 31 points, while guard Robert McCray V recorded 12 assists (according to ESPN Stats and Information). It was a complete team effort.

The Seminoles are heading into the ACC Tournament, winning ten of their last 13 games. They are a squad that no one wants to play right now. They unfortunately got awarded the eight-seed after the Miami Hurricanes did what they always do and lost the important games.

As a result, the California Golden Bears fall victim to being the nine-seed and play off against Florida State tonight at 7 PM EST on ESPN2. They will be looking to get revenge on the Seminoles after losing earlier in the year by a score of 65-63 on the road, which gave Florida State its second conference win at the time.

Florida State basketball finally has a sense of hope with head coach Luke Loucks

Many Florida State fans thought that head coach Luke Loucks's squad would pack it in after the blowout losses to Texas A&M, Georgia, Dayton, and North Carolina State. However, the Seminoles worked on their weaknesses and were able to highlight players like guard Robert McCray V, guard LaJae Jones, and forward Chauncey Wiggins.

Coach Loucks feels that his team can make some noise in the ACC Tournament and believes that they are one of the hottest squads in the conference. With that said, they run into a buzzsaw on Wednesday, March 11th, against the one-seed Duke Blue Devils.

However, Florida State has to take it one step at a time and finish the deal against California tonight. With how the season transpired at the beginning of conference play, I believe that the entire fan base is thankful that the Seminoles and Luke Loucks are even in this position to begin with.
