The Florida State baseball program was thought to be in a bad spot after superstar Myles Bailey suffered a season-ending injury while sliding into second base. However, the Seminoles have managed to overcome the obstacles and give themselves a chance at a top-eight national seed.

Granted, Bailey is the heartbeat of the team and the only source of consistent power in the offense. It was unfortunate to see the young man's season go down like that. However, we know that he will bounce back and make the Seminole Nation proud if he decides to declare for the MLB Draft.

Nonetheless, Florida State baseball's offense has been inconsistent, as they often have to play "small ball" to generate runs. The Seminoles were sitting at a 34-14 overall record going into the Clemson road series. This squad is wildly inconsistent at times, but most of the time, head coach Link Jarrett finds a way to get the job done.

Florida State baseball will now likely have to be on the road when it matters most

Florida State goes into the Clemson series needing to likely sweep both the Tigers and Miami next weekend at home to have a chance at a top-eight seed. It is so important that the Seminoles get the home-field advantage with having the 25-3 record in Dick Howser Stadium. We saw last year how difficult it was to win against Oregon State in Corvallis for the Super Regionals.

Florida State is probably kicking itself now for losing all three games to the arch-rival Florida Gators because it would have likely helped its cause by winning at least one of those contests.

The Seminoles, unfortunately, lost on Saturday night to Clemson by a score of 4-3 after taking a 3-0 lead into the third inning. When the game was tied at 3 in the eighth inning, there was a wild pitch that allowed the Tigers to score and take the lead.

Florida State needs reliever John Abraham back in the bullpen because the arms of the Seminoles are too inconsistent. It is tough to see Florida State lose in another heartbreaker, especially one that likely decided their fate in the NCAA Tournament.
