The undefeated Florida State women’s soccer team maintain their undefeated title with a thrilling, game-saving equalizer in the 90th minute this past Sunday.  After wrapping up their third game on the road in just eight days, the Seminoles went out with a bang.

Playing at Dail Soccer stadium, FSU controlled the tempo of the game from the opening whistle. The Noles dominated possession and piled on the shot attempts early in the first half, especially in the opening 10 minutes as Jordynn Dudley twice slipped through the Wolfpack’s back line. Both attempts forced NC State goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas into her first saves of the afternoon. Despite outshooting NC State 10-1 in the first half, the Noles just couldn’t seem to find the net — the only thing missing from an otherwise strong start.

Story: Why One Virginia Player IS Taking FSU Game Personal

The second half brought more of the same: pressure from the Noles and a shot clock that looked like fireworks on the 4th of July. Even with this, FSU was not able to add the finishing touch.

Then, in the 81st minute, the Wolfpack secured a lifeline. A foul in the box gave NC State a penalty, and Jade Bordeleau converted and gave FSU its first deficit of the season.

But if there is one thing about this Seminole team, it’s that they feed off the pressure —and as an avid watcher, I knew this game wasn’t over yet. With the clock quickly running down to just 35 seconds, Wrianna Hudson buried a clutch shot off a throw-in from Jordynn Dudley, tying the score 1-1. The goal not only preserved FSU’s undefeated record, but also pushed Florida State’s school-record scoring streak to an insane 64 straight games.

For Florida State the result will go down as a tie on paper, but the grit they showed in those final moments will carry them further this season than a win ever could. The Seminoles have returned home still undefeated, holding onto the momentum and the true spirit of a Seminole. If this match showed us anything, it’s that the Noles should never be counted out.
