FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Florida State football is ranked as the 12th-best recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite rankings in the 2026 cycle. The Seminoles have had a solid summer with recruiting, but the fan base expects a top ten class, given the prestigious way that the Seminoles compete for conference and championships.
However, Florida State missed out on three-star defensive end target Katrell Webb from Collins High School in Suwanee, Georgia, after he picked Purdue over the Seminoles and the Indiana Hoosiers.
This seemed like a recruit that the coaching staff was warm on, but probably didn't want to pull the trigger, or the fact that Purdue invested more resources, which does make sense since coach Terrance Knighton has prospects such as four-star Earnest Rankins, four-star James Carrington, four-star Tico Crittendon, and three-star Wihtlley Cadeau in the fold.
I don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer, but I did have a feeling that Florida State football could strike out on a ton of prospects this weekend.
HEZE KENT BAD NEWS
Four-star tight end Heze Kent from Brunswick, Georgia, was set to make his decision today between Florida State, Florida, Miami, and Texas. Kent officially visited the Seminoles on the weekend of June 20th.
Kent was crystal balled to the Florida Gators, and that is exactly where he committed. I don't mind the 6'6" and 310-pound tight end who wants to play at his position. However, he could end up on the offensive line at this point.
I am not concerned with not picking up the Georgia native since the Seminoles picked up four-star tight end Xavier Tiller from Fairburn, Georgia. I think it helps that Florida State got Tiller from the likes of Alabama and Auburn.
I know that tight ends coach Chris Thomsen is a reliable recruiter on the coaching staff.
