FSU FOOTBALL RECRUITING

Florida State football has the 12th-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles want to have a highly-regarded recruiting class with several elite prospects. Most of the fan base expects the program to be in the top ten in rankings.

However, the program has not accomplished that much over the past couple of years. Plus, Florida State had to handle the misery of having a 2-10 season in 2024. The program is known for competing in conference and national championships.

Head football coach Mike Norvell had to make some serious changes this offseason including adding new coaches and players via the transfer portal and recruiting ranks after the disaster of last year.

WEBB DIDN'T CHOOSE FSU

Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton had received a ton of criticism on social media after he did not land any prospects at the start of the summer. Many thought that Coach Knighton couldn't recruit, but he has gone on a hot streak and landed highly-touted prospects.

Florida State gained four-star Tico Crittendon, four-star James Carrington, four-star Earnest Rankins, and three-star Wihtlley Cadeau this summer, so the concerns have settled down. The Seminoles were going after three-star defensive end Chris Addison, but he selected Michigan State.

Three-star defensive end Katrell Webb was someone to monitor after Addison committed to the Spartans. The Seminoles were thought to be considering Webb from Collins High School in Suwanee, Georgia, after he pushed back his commitment from the Fourth of July to July 12th. This was the same high school as Travis Hunter, so there was bound to be disappointment.

Webb was deciding between Florida State, Purdue, and Indiana. However, the pass rusher elected to pledge to the Purdue Boilermakers. It was kind of disappointing to see since Florida State doesn't have a true defensive end and only has hybrid linemen in the class.

I wonder if the Seminoles open the door back open for someone like four-star Kamron Wilson (Syracuse commit), whom they were involved with previously.
