Florida State football has seen many of its current roster members enter the transfer portal this offseason. That is understandable considering the Seminoles had a 5-7 record after starting the season by beating Alabama by a score of 31-17.

The administration retained head football coach Mike Norvell to coach again in 2026, but much of the fan base doesn't want him to be in Tallahassee. Norvell has to let his actions speak louder than words after the disastrous last two years.

People start to question if players want to even play for him anymore at Florida State. That is the harsh reality we face during this difficult time.

Defensive back Shamar Arnoux transfers to Auburn

Speaking of transfers that Florida State didn't want to lose, defensive back Shamar Arnoux could be on that short list of players. The Seminoles' coaching staff even started him in four games this season. Unfortunately, Arnoux ended up transferring to Auburn on Monday afternoon.

Arnoux was a former four-star defensive back prospect from the 2025 recruiting class. The Seminoles were heavily involved with him heading into his senior season of high school, but he decided to commit to the USC Trojans.

Much like the craziness of the transfer portal, Arnoux backed off his commitment to the Trojans and pledged to Auburn. It seems like high schoolers can never stick with their decision because Florida State got back in the mix, and the defensive back flipped from the Tigers to the Seminoles during the Early Signing Period.

The Carrollton, Georgia, native was a solid cornerback who had a 6'2" frame. The staff started him out as a cornerback, but he had to step into a depth role at safety. Being a youngster who is still learning, there were times, such as the North Carolina State game, when he got beaten in coverage.

With that said, he is a solid get for the Tigers that they can build around with the new head football coach, Alex Golesh. Chances are that Arnoux was going to be in the mix for a starting cornerback spot in 2026 for the Seminoles. Thankfully, Florida State brought back Ja'Bril Rawls for next season.
