FSU football head coach Mike Norvell and some of the new recruiting staff hired after the 2024 season hit the recruiting trails hard, adding some highly-ranked players to close with the No. 19 recruiting class nationally after finishing the season 2-10.
No. 19 nationally isn’t the standard, but finishing that high after an abomination of a season helped ease the pain and provide hope with some new coaches on board. It turns out that many of those late additions were a waste of time and resources.
FSU has already had several of those blue-chip players announce their intention to enter the transfer portal:
- L A Jesse Harold- No. 217 player overall and No. 22 EDGE (four-star)
- Mario Nash- No. 415 player overall and No. 28 interior offensive lineman(four-star)
- Tyeland Coleman- No. 20 JUCO player nationally and No. 7 defensive lineman
Harold took a late official visit to FSU right before the Early Signing Period and committed/signed with FSU on the first day players could sign. He didn’t log a single statistic this season.
Nash decommitted from Mississippi State and committed to FSU in October of last year. He never contributed this year.

Tyeland Coleman took an official visit to FSU at the same time as Harold and committed a few days before the Early Signing Date. He appeared in three games this season and had two tackles. I’ll keep paying attention to those who enter the portal, but if it’s more of the guys from the 2025 class that committed late in the process? It feels like the staff was looking to boost some recruiting rankings or something to build momentum amongst the fan base.
FSU has no pass rush in 2025, and Harold couldn’t get on the field at all? I can understand Mario Nash not contributing as an offensive lineman. However, Coleman couldn’t get on the field after being out of high school for two years.
A few guys from the 2025 class impressed as freshmen, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more from that class exit.
