Florida State hasn’t recruited at the level needed in the high school ranks or transfer portal over the past few recruiting cycles. However, they’ve landed some players who were big recruiting wins at the time; most were before FSU went 2-10 and 5-7 over the past two years.
The thought was that FSU would continue its run among the top programs in the ACC and nationally, with the 2024 recruiting class as one of the building blocks to continue that run. The 2024 class remains the top high school class signed by Mike Norvell at No. 12 nationally.
At least 16 of the 23 signees were blue-chip players (70 percent blue-chip ratio). In hindsight, much of that recruiting class hasn’t produced at all, with a few showing flashes of potential.
FSU went back to the transfer portal after the 2024 season, hoping to land some difference-makers. They added some, like Duce Robinson, Luke Petitbon, Micah Pettus, Randy Pittman, Gunnar Hansen, and Adrian Medley. However, they added some high-profile guys from the portal after last season who failed to make an impact whatsoever.
College players get paid nowadays, and it’s a business. FSU can’t afford to keep paying guys big money if they don’t produce. Here are six players I’d point towards the transfer portal from the roster.
