FSU had some big recruiting news Tuesday when it leaked that three-star offensive lineman Aaron Thomas was going to be back on campus in October for the Miami game.

Thomas is committed to Ohio State, but the Phoenix native has deep ties to the Seminoles. His father, Eric Thomas, played for FSU in the late 90s and was a major part of the 1999 wire-to-wire BCS championship team. His mother is also an FSU grad.

Naturally, this brought about some backlash on social media and a few Buckeye fans didn't handle the news well. So be it. Top prospects go to games all the time. Normally it's not a big deal, but obviously there is going to be some smoke around Thomas' recruitment because of his family ties to FSU.

So when the young man himself goes on X to try to silence some of the noise and reassure the panicked Buckeye Nation that he's still in the fold, we have to take it for what it is.

Nothing to worry about here. Thomas had to do what he had to do to get these wild Buckeye fans off his back. Unless he says otherwise, he's still going to be in Tallahassee for the Miami game, with his parents, who will both be cheering their alma mater on like crazy.

Will watching his mom and dad cheer passionately for the Seminoles inevitably have an effect on Thomas? Short term it probably will. The prospect grew up as an FSU fan. He has been surrounded by all things Seminoles for most of his life. But long-term, it's much harder to say because he'll also go back to Columbus, and he's going to be embraced by that community as well.

The one thing FSU will always have in its back pocket is that Tallahassee is home to the Thomas family in a figurative sense. And at a certain point, this staff has to land prospects at a position of need, especially ones that OHIO STATE believes can play at this level. That goes for Corbyn Fordham too.
