Florida State football wants to locate positive momentum after defeating Virginia Tech by a score of 34-14 on Saturday night. The Seminoles have difficulties due to a portion of the fan base not believing in the abilities of head football coach Mike Norvell.

It didn't help that Florida State started the season 3-0 with a win over Alabama, then losing five of the next six games. The expectation was changed drastically after the shocking Crimson Tide performance. They went from a 7/8 wins to a potential College Football Playoff contender.

Fans also wondered if the Seminoles would lose their 2026 recruiting class, as the program plummeted down the conference standings. It is rough that Florida State lost cornerback Jay Timmons to Ohio State, who is now considered a five-star prospect according to On3's new recruiting rankings.

GOOD NEWS IN RECRUITING?

Florida State got a commitment from four-star JUCO defensive end Jalen Anderson on Monday morning. Fans had an upsetting moment since some believed that Coach Norvell couldn't get the talented prospects to flock to Tallahassee.

Anderson is a talented pass rusher that recorded 41 tackles (11.5 for loss), seven sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception during the 2025 season. This is a productive defender that the Seminoles should get multiple years out of.

However, that was the only positive news of Monday, as four-star linebacker commit Izayia Williams announced that he is locked into his recruitment with Florida State.

Fans will see it before they believe it with the talented linebacker, since he has de-committed, re-committed several times. This is interesting that schools would constantly put up with events like that. However, Florida State needs to find capable linebacker options in Tony White's defense.

Given the rotation that has been on the field, there is a chance that I believe Williams could play in Year 1. Even with the issues that the talented defender, the coaches see that his skill set outweighs the off-the-field stuff.
