Could this mean that one of the arch-rival's best players is entering the portal?

Uh oh... Could the Florida Gators be in trouble?

The Florida Gators look like they are entering a new era under head football coach Jon Sumrall. The Seminoles' arch-rival will be welcoming in another Group of Five coach that could be a question mark in terms of success in Gainesville.

The Gators already tried their luck with former coach Billy Napier, who is now employed by James Madison. Florida hasn't had a consistent head man since Dan Mullen, who they fired.

It has been a revolving door for coaches in the orange and blue since the legendary Steve Spurrier. There has been only one coach who has lasted five years since Spurrier hung up the ole visor and that was Urban Meyer from 2005 to 2010.

The unfortunate part is that Seminole fans cannot even enjoy the Gators' struggles because Florida State has lost to two interim head coaches (Billy Gonzales and Greg Knox) during the Mike Norvell era. It should be noted that there should be anyone in Tallahassee raving about how Florida State football has performed over the past two seasons.

The 2025 meeting came in painful fashion, as the Seminoles were destroyed by the Florida Gators on the road in blowout fashion, where running back Jadan Baugh finished with 266 rushing yards (according to ESPN Stats and Information).

Florida State probably never wants to see Baugh line up against them again, and would gladly see him leave the Gators. The rumor mill is swirling as the running back has wiped all the Gators' mentions on his social media accounts (It is confirmed that Baugh did remove the mentions.

In today's landscape of college football, this action should not be taken lightly. Are things in Gainesville getting dicey with new head football coach Jon Sumrall in town? We have already seen talented former five-star quarterback DJ Lagway enter the portal.

This won't be an easy task to replace a rusher that has over 1,800 yards and 15 touchdowns in Gainesville over the past two seasons. The fan base in Swamp Town better hope that the new coaching staff has a back-up plan if the worst happens to them.
