Florida State defensive line coach Terrance Knighton has not secured a defensive lineman prospect in the 2026 cycle. However, it should be noted that the Seminoles finished with signees in the 2025 cycle, such as Kevin Wynn, LaJesse Harrold, Tylon Lee, Tyeland Coleman, Darryll Desir, and Mandrell Desir.
The fan base can be reactionary when things at certain positions don't pan out right away. I get the frustrations because this is Florida State, and there is a standard of excellence here where it is considered a top-15 program in the country.
Some individuals were angered by the fact that four-star defensive end Cam Brooks from Thomas County Central High School in Thomasville, Georgia, due to his living so close to Tallahassee, and his growing up a huge fan of Florida State.
While I am not excusing that the recruitment should have been a slam-dunk for the Seminoles, I know that the coaching staff is prioritizing other recruits at the position. Some pass rushers include four-star Kamron Wilson (Syracuse commit), four-star Tristian Givens, four-star Zavion Griffin-Haynes, three-star Katrell Webb, and three-star Keysaun Eleazer.
Fans thought the recruitment for four-star defensive end Kamron Wilson from Miami Southridge High School in Miami, Florida, was over after he committed to the Syracuse Orange. However, I wouldn't rule out Florida State's chance at this time.
He has an official visit to Syracuse scheduled for June 13th, but he is willing to give Florida State a chance to sway his recruitment on June 20th (if the visit stays in tack).
It isn't a situation where Cam Brooks is only listed at 6'2" and 225 pounds. While Wilson is 210 pounds, he does have a 6'5" frame to work with. I know this might bring some PTSD to the fan base, but Patrick Payton had the same build in high school (was 195 pounds) and was able to bulk up and be productive, for the most part.
Nonetheless, this should be a recruitment that Florida State could most certainly get involved with if they are interested in a high capacity.
