Could 2025 Duce Robinson have a bigger impact than 2022 Johnny Wilson?

Could Duce Robinson be the missing piece that the Seminoles needed?

FSU FOOTBALL'S OFFENSE

Florida State football's offense has been incredible thus far through two games against Alabama and Texas A&M. While it is understandable that it is a small sample size, the Seminoles have exceeded expectations and want to continue to improve.

The program added offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, quarterback Thomas Castellanos, and wide receiver Duce Robinson this offseason, so the fan base knew that the 15.2 points per game average from 2024 would be in the rearview mirror.

This duo of Thomas Castellanos and Duce Robinson in 2025 reminds me of Jordan Travis and Johnny Wilson in 2022. The Seminoles finished the season with a 10-3 record, setting the foundation for what was to come the following year.

DUCE ROBINSON

During the 2022 season, wide receiver Johnny Wilson finished with 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns. Wilson was at his best when he high-pointed the football over opposing defenders. The good news is that current pass catcher Duce Robinson sits at a similar stature, where the former USC transfer is listed at 6'6" and 223 pounds.

Robinson only had two catches for 18 yards in the season-opening win versus Alabama, but the wide receiver found his stride against East Texas A&M with 173 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While it is known that it is a lesser opponent, that performance should give him the confidence that he needs as the Seminoles enter conference play.

The transfer wide receiver is well on his way to having at least a similar impact that Johnny Wilson did in 2022 for the Seminoles. Let's hope that Robinson delivers by catching the football with consistency and aids in Florida State beating the pesky Hurricanes, Tigers, and Gators.
