Florida State football is known for its activity on the transfer portal. Fans have sometimes been frustrated with the program's involvement with striking out on the recruiting trail. However, the 2025 recruiting class was very serviceable.

With that being said, many of the 2025 prospects will not be able to contribute in meaningful ways as head football coach Mike Norvell has to win now with previously having a 2-10 record in 2024.

This is where the transfer portal comes into play. It plugs in roster deficiencies with veteran help or, at the very least, young and talented depth. We realize that it isn't everyone's cup of tea (yeah, I am talking about you, Dabo Swinney).

Nonetheless, there has to be a better mixture of recruits and transfers as the 2024 portal class was one of the worst that Norvell has had since he arrived in Tallahassee. The coaching staff had the luxury of hitting on over 80% of its signings. However, it was hard to pinpoint 10% of the transfers that made major contributions last year.

The Seminoles have made a change in their approach for the 2025 transfer class, which we discussed recently in an article. However, Florida State is not done with the construction of the haul, as they have visitors who will be making a trip to Tallahassee in January.

Coastal Carolina senior defensive end transfer Deamontae Diggs will be visiting Florida State on January 2nd. Diggs recorded 34 tackles (6.5 for loss) and five sacks during the 2024 season and is listed at 6'5" and 260 pounds.

The Seminoles already added pash rushers such as Nebraska's James Williams and Western Kentucky's DeAnte McCray via the transfer portal. It would be nice to add another talented skill set in Diggs as the entire starting defensive line (minus defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr.) has moved on from the garnet and gold.
