After everyone (briefly) thinking that Mike Norvell had saved his job by defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide and starting the season 3-0, people are once again calling for the Florida State Seminoles' head coach to be fired.
Now, the Seminoles are 3-4 and Norvell is once again sitting on one of the hottest seats in the country, unless you were to ask Florida State athletic director Michael Alford, who just backed Norvell.
In a statement released by Alford and the athletic department, the AD promised that Norvell wasn't going anywhere before the season ended. Bud Elliott, a college football analyst for CBS, is now calling for both men's jobs.
In his podcast Upon Further Review, Elliott said it's obvious that Norvell's time in Tallahassee needs to come to an end. However, he also said that there clearly needs to be a change higher up in the program, saying that FSU should look into finding a new athletic director as well as a head football coach.

Who is Michael Alford?
Alford first took the job at Florida State in 2021 after serving as Central Michigan's athletic director from 2017 through 2020. The five years before his time at CMU, he was the associate athletic director for the Oklahoma Sooners.
Before then, he held positions at Alabama and with the Dallas Cowboys. While he has years of experience within the world of college football under his belt, he doesn't necessarily have the AD experience necessary to guarantee the success of a program like FSU.
Sure, he earned his master's degree in athletic administration from the University of Arkansas, but the education isn't translating to success in real life. Since 2021, the Seminoles have gone 33-25 in football, including just two winning seasons (2022, 2023).
While football isn't actually everything, it pretty much is when it comes to an athletic department's success (which is focused almost solely on a program's revenue).
Norvell undeniably needs to be done at Florida State, but maybe the Seminoles' athletic director needs to find a new place to call home, too.
