Florida State football was the laughingstock of college football during the 2024 season, where they finished the year with a 2-10 record. The Seminoles knew that things had to change, given that this is not the standard of a program that is used to winning championships.

Head football coach Mike Norvell is under a microscope in 2025 since last season was so horrifically wrong. That is the climate of today's college football landscape, where fans, administration, and boosters expect teams to win at a high level.

One of the ways that the Seminoles will have to get out of the hole is to acquire talent via the transfer portal and recruiting ranks. Florida State has thirteen transfers in the fold now. Surprisingly enough, the Seminoles have not shown signs of letting up their pursuit.

Florida State is hosting several transfers on campus this week. It is important to note that the university starts classes on Monday, January 6th. However, the Seminoles do not have to rush to get the transfers enrolled by Monday because there are future instances in which they can get them enrolled.

I am intrigued to see what Florida State does with three former Tennessee transfer portal prospects: wide receiver Squirrel White, linebacker Elijah Herring (previously at Memphis and Tennessee), and defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins.

White had 34 receptions for 381 yards and two touchdowns last year. The talented pass catcher could be a viable slot receiver for the Seminoles.

Herring recorded 60 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions during the 2024 season for the Memphis Tigers. It could be important to grab Herring since pursued linebacker transfer Marques Watson-Trent committed to Nebraska.

Jenkins had nine tackles (four for loss) and two sacks with the Volunteers in a reserve role. It is always a smart idea to acquire as many defensive linemen to put in the rotation as possible.

Honestly, I believe that Florida State has a serious chance to acquire all three of White, Herring, and Jenkins. All three of them are friends and have connections with one another. If the Seminoles get one, they could get all three. This would be a solid acquisition for a program that is looking to get back in the win column.
