CAN JAMIE ARNOLD SAVE FSU?
Florida State baseball will be taking on the Oregon State Beavers on the road for the Super Regionals in Corvallis, Oregon, at 9:00 PM EST on ESPN2 for Game 2 of the best-of-three series. The Seminoles will be calling on ace starting pitcher Jamie Arnold to take the mound versus the Beavers.
Arnold had a masterful performance in the home Regionals matchup versus SEC opponent Mississippi State, where he recorded seven stellar innings with 13 strikeouts. He exited the game with a ton of emotions because he could feel his squad inching closer and closer to a Super Regionals berth.
The talented pitcher has caught his stride, where he has captured the victory in seven of his last eight appearances. The truth of the matter is that Arnold pitching at night is ELITE.
CAN THE SQUAD BOUNCE BACK?
I already wrote about Florida State baseball's epic collapse to Oregon State last night by a score of 5-4 in extra innings. I thought I woke up from a bad dream, but this is the reality that the Seminoles face after they couldn't put the Beavers away with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The bullpen has been an absolute disaster this year, but they have been playing with a sense of purpose to close the season. However, relief pitcher Joe Charles taught us that nothing is guaranteed in college baseball.
I don't want to place the blame on Charles, because it was an overall team effort in what was a historic loss. However, this likely teaches head baseball coach Link Jarrett and pitching coach Micah Posey that they will need to rely on the arm of Arnold for the majority of the game.
If anyone can provide a spark for Florida State baseball after what happened on Friday afternoon, it has to be the early MLB draft pick Jamie Arnold.
