Florida State knew that things needed to change if the Seminoles wanted to get back to being one of the nation's best in college football. The Seminoles finished the year with a 2-10 record. This was an utter disappointment from a program that is used to hoisting conference championships and being in the conversation for winning a national championship.

The Seminoles' offense was a major disappointment this past season. Some fans thought that the offense would have taken a step back in 2024 with no Jordan Travis, Trey Benson, Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell. However, individuals did not think it would free fall into this.

Florida State picked up dual-threat signal caller Thomas Castellanos this offseason via the transfer portal. He is a polarizing option who did well running the football in 2023, but new head football coach Bill O'Brien did not utilize his skill set last year. As a result, he left the program after being benched.

Castellanos cannot do everything by himself. He needs playmakers to be successful. The Seminoles landed four wide receivers in the 2025 cycle with four-star Jayvan Boggs, four-star Tre'Shaun Gelsey, three-star JUCO Jordan Scott, and three-star Teriq Mallory.

However, they had not acquired any transfer wide receivers in the portal. But that thought process has now changed as USC wide receiver Duce Robinson has committed to Florida State.

Robinson's father (Dominic) played with the Seminoles from 2001-2004. The younger Robinson was a former five-star tight-end prospect in the 2023 cycle. He converted over to a wide receiver. He looks to be a 6'6" playmaker that Thomas Castellanos can depend on.

The big-bodied playmaker recorded 39 receptions for 747 yards and seven touchdowns during his two years with the Trojans. He is expected to be a major contributor in Year 1 of Gus Malzahn's offense in Tallahassee. I cannot hide my excitement of the potential that Robinson could have at Florida State if he pieces everything together.
