Do you remember how Chicken Little referenced that the sky was falling in the famous animated movie? Well, it certainly looks that way in Tallahassee right now.
Florida State football has continuously been kicked in the face several times ever since they were snubbed in the College Football Playoff back in 2023 by the Alabama Crimson Tide. The football gods have not been kind to the place that Bobby Bowden built.
I am saying all this because true freshman defensive lineman duo Mandrell and Darryll Desir announced that they would be entering the transfer portal on Monday afternoon.
BREAKING: FSU true freshmen twin brothers Mandrell & Darryll Desir plan to enter the @TransferPortal, their agency @LAASportsEnt tells @On3Sports

The twin brothers were very productive in their true freshman seasons in Tallahassee and were thought to be pieces that the Seminoles could build around for years to come. After the news broke, the Seminoles landed former Texas running back transfer Tre Wisner.
This comes as a shock to many around the fan base. What is even worse is that Florida State has not been at the top of the list of many defensive linemen during the transfer portal window. They certainly need to keep the youngsters who are talented on the roster.
This seems to be a common theme during the Mike Norvell era, with players testing their value in the transfer portal. I hope that it is all it is, and they come back to their senses with returning to Florida State during the 2026 season.
However, this is very concerning for two talented prospects that the Seminoles got from the 2025 recruiting cycle. The defensive line group was still a need for Florida State during the transfer portal window, and that was even before the Desir Twins announced that they would enter the portal.
To be honest, I have no idea what is going on in Tallahassee, but it is concerning, and it needs to be fixed immediately.
