Florida State is currently ranked as the 24th-best recruiting class in the 2027 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. That shouldn't be the standard of a program that has the ultimate goal of competing for championships.
The Seminoles have had difficulties with entering the top ten under the guidance of Mike Norvell. However, things could change this season if they get everything together. Winning seven games over the past two years isn't a good indicator that success will come.
There are proven recruiters on staff, such as running backs coach Kam Martin, wide receivers coach Tim Harris Jr., and defensive ends coach Nick Williams. However, the Seminoles need to finish the deal when the Early Signing Period comes around in December.
Florida State has to find a way to get a quarterback prospect in its 2027 recruiting class
There are six talented prospects committed to the Seminoles' 2027 recruiting class, but the elephant in the room is that Florida State does not have a quarterback secured in the fold.
While I understand that the program is projected to have signal-callers Kevin Sperry, Malachi Marshall, and Jaden O'Neal in the room, there needs to be as many talented options as possible. High school recruits at the position haven't been slam dunks, as Florida State has relied on transfers.
They have had homegrown quarterbacks before, such as Chubba Purdy, Tate Rodemaker, AJ Duffy, Brock Glenn, and Luke Kromenhoek, and none of them panned out at Florida State. Head coach Mike Norvell has only had success with Jordan Travis, who transferred into the program during the Willie Taggart era.
Florida State recently had a visit from four-star Jake Nawrot from Illinois, but he recently committed to head coach Will Stein and Kentucky.

While Nawrot wasn't necessarily the Seminoles' top realistic option, he was a signal-caller with whom they were involved. Florida State was involved with four-star Israel Abrams (Miami), four-star Jayce Johnson (Texas A&M), four-star Davin Davidson (Florida), and now four-star Jake Nawrot (Kentucky), who committed to other schools.
It now puts the pressure on Florida State to land four-star Champ Monds IV from Vero Beach, Florida, before Notre Dame gets him to commit. The other option would be three-star Logan Flaherty, who is committed to UCF.
The standoff between Florida State and Champ Monds IV has to end now. The coaching staff needs to prioritize him and get him in the 2027 recruiting class.
